Foreward And Contents

To,
The land that has stood the
Fire of the millenniums past
And today stands
At the altar
Opening into the tomorrow of
Dreams and aspirations so cherished
And whose beautiful name Is Nepal.

Words To Begin With

I am indented to all those countless who expressed their suggestions and criticisms to the summary of this book I circulated earlier. Your comments have widened my mental horizons. I have enjoyed listening to them all. They have filled me with confidence about the publication of this book. My classmate pal Sanjay shreshtha of Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, had typed out the booklet. I am most thankful.

Thanks to my political colleagues, here and abroad, female and male, and growing exponentially in number ever since the Sangram Morcha's formal inception as a political movement in April 1993. If it were not for the drive and unwavering enthusiasm you have shown in your individual organizational responsibilities, I my self would have felt less inspired during the months I have poured into the shaping of this book. Unlike a group working for the light seen at the end of the tunnel, your zeal has been of a degree which makes one feel we are going into power the week next. If we are to continue this way, nothing can stop us from achieving our goal of getting into power in 2001 AD.

The flag was designed two months later.

Consulting the various libraries in Kathmandu, the government publications available from Singha Durbar, now in the clutches OI the Nepali congress unfortunately, and a large number of books borrowed from several friends were of help in my endeavor to expand into a book a four page essay, is by then I had seen the four pillars. The task was more or less done by the time September knocked the door again.

All my family members back home in Mithila, like always, provided me with their invaluable emotional goodwill while I lived all on my friend from Manchester, UK, supported me when I wanted to devote all my time to this book and none to earning a living, snort term or long. Thanks to Shirley. And to my college advisor Mr. Andrew wild from the same British city who was kind enough to lend me his typewriter on which I hammered out the manuscript. I had to decipher my 'artistic" handwriting in the process.

Thanks to Yeti Photos center, Kantipath, for its photo SD-3104. It is on the front page. Mention must be made of my publishers and all those bookshop which have made it possible that my book reach your genital hands.

And I am directly responsible for the little work that remained doing after all the help I received. This is my first book. The though tickles me.

Jauary, 1994

P.S. The abbreviation NC has two meanings, one good, another bad. The good is Nepalese Currency, the bad Nepali Congress. It is the latter that has used in this book.
